JP Guanzon

John Paul “JP” Guanzon is a multi-talented musician and tenor of the award-winning Kammerchor Manila. Skilled in piano, violin, and guitar, he blends humility with artistry, proving that “talent alone is not enough.” His journey from church beginnings to international stages reflects passion, discipline, and a deep commitment to music and faith.

John Paul “JP” Guanzon is completing his Bachelor of Music in Popular Music at the Philippine Women’s University. A versatile musician, he plays piano, violin, guitar, percussion, and sings as a tenor.

He is Assistant Conductor, tenor, and accompanist of the world-renowned Kammerchor Manila, the 2023 Choir of the World. He also serves as a violinist and tenor with the PREX Choir at St. James the Great Parish, Ayala Alabang.

In 2024, JP headlined “A Night with John Paul Guanzon” at Haus der Monzon—a solo concert honoring Dr. Manfred Fischer of Germany. The performance highlighted his rare blend of vocal artistry and instrumental mastery.

JP’s love for music began in church, inspired by his family of musicians. A basketball injury redirected his focus to music, eventually leading him to master multiple instruments. He calls the violin his favorite, describing it as “an instrument that bleeds and cries when played.”

He credits Anthony Go Villanueva, Kammerchor Manila’s conductor, as his greatest mentor:

“Talent alone is not enough; a good attitude is key to success. No matter how many accolades you receive, humility is what keeps you grounded.”

Looking Ahead

JP envisions himself as a full-time musician and performer while pursuing his dream of building a lights-and-sound business to support fellow artists. He also found love through music, meeting Eloisa Contreras, a fellow member of Kammerchor Manila.

His advice to young musicians: “Stay humble, stay committed, and enjoy the journey of making music together.”
